Renault Clio 4. World presentation in Paris.27-28.09.12. Renault has jumped on the downsizing bandwagon with the introduction of a new three-cylinder petrol and a cleaner diesel engine for the latest Clio. The three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, named Energy TCe 90, emits 99g/km and is capable of achieving 65mpg. This means it'll currently dip below the magic 100g/km mark, meaning it's exempt from road tax. Renault claims its performance is on par with a naturally aspirated 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine. The downsizing has seen a weight saving of 15kg, while it produces 90bhp and 135Nm of torque. The new diesel engine is the Energy dCi 90. It features stop-start and even more impressive fuel economy and emissions. Renault claims 83g/km emissions and 88.2mpg economy. Like the petrol engine, it makes 90bhp, but torque is considerably increased, for a total of 220Nm. The two new engines will be available when orders for the new Clio open in November, with deliveries expected to begin in February 2013. Renault has also revealed that the Clio is set to get another all-new petrol engine fitted with the manufacturer's Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) automatic gearbox. The TCe 120 engine will be available in top-of-the-range models. The 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine produces 120bhp and 190Nm. Renault claims this is comparable to a 1.6-litre engine. This combination will be available from spring 2013. What is coming soon? On Clio platform is going to be wagon and compact SUV.
